The Piano Man

This morning Benton decided to serenade us with his mad piano skills. He pulled out the hymn book and placed it on the piano. After opening it up he began to play and softly sing, "Church, Jesus Christ, Amen." He would then turn the page and continue singing. I can't imagine a better way to start our day.

P.S. Pay no attention to my beat up piano...

Just like Daddy take two

Every morning Benton likes to watch Dallin drive off to work. This week Dallin has been able to ride his motorcycle. Benton watches him get ready in the morning and apparently really pays attention to everything. The other morning while saying goodbye he asked Dallin if he had his lunch, something I do every morning. It was so cute!

Today he decided that he was going to go to work like Daddy does. He packed up all his tools & put them in a bag, just like Daddy puts his computer in a bag. He then found a hat "helmet" and some gloves. He proceeded to climb on his motorcycle and say, " bye bye mommy! See you soon. My work." he of course had to run back and give me a hug before he left. I sure hope he enjoys his "work" today.

Just like Daddy

I went outside this morning to find that Benton parked his motorcycle, which is usually in the backyard, in the garage next to daddy's. I thought it was pretty cute. Then I noticed that he also parked his tricycle next to daddy's bicycle. I guess it is plain to see that he wants to be just like his daddy!

3 Months

This sweet little guy is 3 months old already. Sometimes it still is strange to me to say that I have kids, or that the word children applies to us but I also feel like I have forgotten what it was like to just have one. Life is really busy with these two little ones, and great too.

Right now Emmett is developing his daytime nap schedule, I think he almost has it down. He takes a 45 minute nap about an hour after he wakes up, then another nap around 11 or 12 for about 4 hours. His last nap is usually around 5 and he goes down for the night around 8. I wish it was the same everyday, like it was with Benton, but with running errands and other things that come up we do the best we can. He sleeps great at night, most nights I only have get up once or twice. He seems to be ready to sleep longer but he often has a burp or something that wakes him up. We are working on fixing that.
I know it might seem funny to some of you for me to blog about this type of stuff. It really might not be that interesting to you, but I really like it. I look back at what Benton was doing at this same age and it helps me know what to expect for Emmett. Also I print my blog into a book so it becomes out little family journal. So if you don't really want to know how much Emmett is sleeping you can just skip this and look at his cute pictures instead.

Emmett wakes up very happy in the morning. I often find him just talking to himself and he usually greets me with a nice big smile. That is a great way to start off the day! (Even though it is bright and early at 6:30)

He loves to snuggle with a blanket. When he has one on his lap he grabs it with both hands and pulls it up near his face. He likes just playing with it. The other night we were out of the house when he wanted to fall asleep. I set him in his car seat and rocked it for a minute. He almost fell asleep but it seemed like he needed something. So I put a little blanket on him (it was warm so he didn't need one) and he was right out! This kid likes his blankets.

Emmett is a pretty relaxed baby. He will lay on the floor and play by himself for 30 minutes or more while I am making dinner. He also loves the swing and is starting out in the exersaucer.

Check out those cute pudgy legs! I love them. You can also see him playing with/eating his hands. He does that a lot.

I really tried hard to narrow down how many pictures I was going to post, but they all ended up being so cute that this was as far as I got. We love our little Emmett boy.

First day at the Beach

Yesterday we headed down to the beach with some friends for an awesome day of playing. It was pretty nice considering it is still early May, a bit windy but just warm enough to play for a while. There were 7 kids there, all boys, and they sure loved the sand! We all brought shovels, buckets, and trucks. The spent a few hours hauling that sand around.

Emmett spent most of the time in this shade tent. Another one of the moms brought it and kindly let us use it. It was so windy that Emmett had a hard time being outside. So his first trip to the beach was spent in a tent. Hopefully next time it will be a little calmer weather.

After an hour or two of playing in the sand Benton discovered the birds...

And chased them all over! I swear he spent 10 minutes running after them in every direction. That was until they lead him down to the ocean. Then he discovered the massive amount of water. He darted towards it and would not stop! I finally caught up to him and showed him the little stream of water that lead out to the ocean that he could play in. The other kids were there too and had fun getting soaked.

He had so much fun playing with the other kids, I wish I took more pictures of all of them playing. I like how both he and Colt are doing the same thing in this picture, that is throwing sand of course. They are pretty cute little buddies! Thanks for the fun day at the beach! Let's do it again soon.

Enjoying the Sun

When the sun in out you can find us in the backyard. It is nice that it is warm enough to take Emmett out now. Benton enjoyed playing with some bubbles.

Photobucket

Benton is sure growing up! I looked at a picture of him from just a few months ago and he looks so different already. He is also exploding with new words these days. You can tell sometimes that he is so proud of himself for knowing the words to say and even prouder when he realizes that I know what he is saying.

It was at this point I realized I hadn't taken a picture of Emmett for over a week. In a baby's life that is a long time! So here are some pictures of the little cutie.

Conversations

Last night while I was feeding the baby in his room I heard Benton turn on the faucet in the nearby bathroom. This is his new favorite thing. He washes his hands, brushes his teeth, and who knows what else. All I know is that for once he was quite and leaving the baby and I alone so he could fall asleep. After another minute or two I heard some splashing. Hummm... This conversation then took place.
"Benton, are you playing in the toilet?"
"Yes."
"Benton stop, that is gross, we don't play in the toilet!"
Then it hits me, "Benton, are you playing with your toothbrush in the toilet?"
".......Yes."
"Eeeww Benton that is gross don't put your toothbrush in the toilet! Don't put that toothbrush in your mouth please."
He then walks into the room with the toothbrush in his mouth and says, "Icky mommy, new one."
"Yes Benton that is icky and you do need a new one."
Awesome Benton
